July General Meeting

State of the Lick Observatory

Bob Havner

Tony Misch, support astronomer at Lick Observatory, will be the guest speaker at the July general meeting. You may remember that Tony spoke to the SJAA on the Lick Solar Eclipse expeditions. Tony will be giving an informal talk on the latest research going on at Lick Observatory, the new Automatic Planet Finder (APF) telescope; scheduled to be operational sometime next year, and, time permitting, he will talk about the 1882 Transit of Venus animation. Read Tony's article "Reanimating the 1882 Transit of Venus" and see the animation at: http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/objects/sun/article_1187_1.asp.
